Hazebrouck, France – La Grande Place (côté nord) – Postcard Early 20th Century

Regular price £8.00 GBP

This early 20th-century postcard captures the northern side of Hazebrouck’s Grande Place, a vast cobblestone square framed by charming Flemish-style townhouses. In the foreground stands an ornate cast-iron bandstand, a focal point for public performances and town gatherings.
Hazebrouck, located in the Nord department of northern France, has long served as a cultural and commercial hub near the Belgian border. The Grande Place functioned as a central meeting ground for markets, civic events, and celebrations. Bandstands like the one seen here were common fixtures in French towns during the Belle Époque and Third Republic periods, symbolizing municipal pride and supporting community entertainment.
The reverse features a classic divided-back French layout, with space for both correspondence and address.
