1980 Ireland One Pound Banknote
Obverse: The front of the banknote features a portrait of Queen Medb (Maeve), an ancient queen from Irish mythology, on the right. Her image is set against a background of Celtic calligraphy and swirling designs in green. To the left of the portrait, intricate scrollwork accompanies the banknote's denomination, with "£1" displayed in both English and Irish. The serial number "DED 746397" is printed in red at the bottom left, along with the issue date "20-08-80". The signatures of the Governor and the Secretary of the Department of Finance are also printed in black.
