Dr. Karl Landsteiner (1868-1943) was an Austrian immunologist and pathologist who made significant contributions to the field of medicine, particularly in the area of blood typing and transfusion medicine. He is best known for his discovery of human blood groups and the development of the ABO system, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1930.
