English silver hallmarks for London 1897, (date letter “b")
Lovely antique condition, no splits or cracks, no solder repairs, and no nasty knocks or dents, just minor little age-related surface bruises from normal use, really nothing much at all.

Maker: Silversmiths initials "WH&Ss Ld ” William Hutton & Sons Ltd. The firm was established in Birmingham by William Hutton in 1800 and transferred in Sheffield in 1832 where the firm was active as manufacturing silversmiths. After William Hutton death the business was continued under the same style by the founder's son William Carr Hutton until 1864, when the name was changed to William Hutton & Son. William Carr Hutton died in 1865 and Herbert Hutton was joined by his brothers James Edward Hutton and Robert and the name was changed to William Hutton & Sons.
