This postcard offers a serene glimpse of the Quai du Haut-Pont in Saint-Omer, a historic town in northern France.
Saint-Omer, nestled in the Pas-de-Calais department, was an important regional center from the Middle Ages through the industrial era. The canal shown—part of the extensive waterway system of the Audomarois marshes—was vital for transporting goods, particularly agricultural produce, peat, and textiles. The Quai du Haut-Pont connected Saint-Omer to maritime trade routes via the River Aa and nearby ports such as Gravelines and Calais.
The reverse follows the standard French “Carte Postale” format with printed divisions for message and address.
