Lugano, Switzerland – Via Nassa – Postcard Early 20th Century
This postcard captures a lively street view of Via Nassa, one of Lugano’s most historic and prestigious shopping streets.
Via Nassa, situated along the lakefront of Lugano in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino, has been a hub of commerce and sophistication since the Middle Ages. Originally sheltered beneath arcades to protect shoppers from the elements, it evolved into one of Lugano’s main shopping arteries by the turn of the 20th century.
The reverse uses the multilingual format typical of international Swiss postcards, with "Cartolina Postale" prominently printed in Italian, alongside French and German equivalents.
Front Text: "Lugano. Via Nassa."
Reverse Imprint:
"CARTOLINA POSTALE (CARTE POSTALE – POSTKARTE)"
