This vintage postcard presents a breathtaking panoramic view of Athens, Greece, captured from the vantage point of the Acropolis.
The Zappeion, designed by Theophil Hansen and completed in 1888, played a significant role in the first modern Olympic Games held in Athens in 1896, serving as the Olympic Village and later as an exhibition and conference center. The Temple of Olympian Zeus, whose construction began in the 6th century BC under Peisistratos and was completed by Roman Emperor Hadrian in 131 AD, was once the largest temple in Greece, symbolizing the city’s rich mythological and historical legacy.
The reverse side is blank, with the inscription 'ΕΛΛΑΣ — GRÈCE / CARTE POSTALE'
