1913 Antwerp, Belgium – Hôtel de Ville - Stadhuis – Postcard

£10.00 GBP

This postcard captures the grandeur of the Hôtel de Ville (Stadhuis) of Antwerp, Belgium, one of the most iconic Renaissance town halls in Northern Europe.
Constructed between 1561 and 1565, Antwerp’s Stadhuis is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an exceptional example of Renaissance civic architecture with Flemish and Italian influences. Its richly adorned façade symbolizes the city’s commercial prosperity during the 16th century, when Antwerp was a global trading hub. The Brabo Fountain, added in 1887, commemorates the mythical Roman soldier Brabo, who is said to have slain the toll-demanding giant and cast his severed hand into the river Scheldt—an act that gave the city its name (“hand-werpen”).
