Michael Ward - 3 Beatles, Liverpool, 1963

This is an rare signed original limited edition silver gelatin photo print from the legendary photographer Michael Ward titled The Beatles - Liverpool - River Front 1963. The artwork is extremely well printed on high quality photo paper and features a wonderful example of Michael Ward's legendary photography of John Lennon, Ringo Star and, Paul McCartney and George Harrison of the Beatles in their home city of Liverpool in 1963 - an early stage in their career just as they were exploding the UK. It is signed, titled, dated and editioned by Michael Ward in ink together with a blindstamp to the the lower margin and comes complete in a Michael Ward selected wood box frame complete with photographer stickers on the back. From a numbered edition of only 25 this example is the especially sought after number 1.

The print is framed in a wood box frame and the back of the print also features Michael Ward's stamp and handwritten title. The print measures 40.4cm x 30.3cm, the image measures approximately 24.2cm x 33.6cm and the wood box frame 53.5cm x 43.5cm x 3.3cm. The print is in great condition with some minor wear and rippling to the edges (not visible in the frame).

Michael Ward (1929-2011) was a renowned photogapher who captured an amazing selection of intimate images of the Beatles very early on in their career including at legendary performances at The Cavern Club in 1963 and went on to have continued to success with portraits of other cultural icons such as The Rolling Stones, David Hockney and Marianne Faithful. His work can be found in numerous important collections and galleries around the world including the permanent collection of London's National Portrait Gallery.
