This postcard captures the soaring Gothic apse of the Cathédrale Notre-Dame d’Amiens, one of France’s greatest medieval cathedrals, alongside the statue of Pierre l’Ermite. 
Completed largely between 1220 and 1270, Amiens Cathedral is the largest cathedral in France by volume and a masterpiece of High Gothic architecture. Its enormous interior could accommodate twice the congregation of Notre-Dame de Paris. The statue of Pierre l’Ermite honors the French priest who famously rallied crusaders in the 11th century.
