Pieter Mulier known as Tempesta or Cavalier Tempesta (Haarlem, 1637 – Milan, 1701) was a Dutch painter.

Apprenticed to his father, he arrived in Italy in 1656, first in Rome, where he painted frescoes for a room in Palazzo Colonna, and then in Genoa (1668), known for his ability to depict ships in a rough sea sought (hence the name). He was imprisoned from 1676 to 1684, accused of having killed his wife. Even during the years of imprisonment he continued to work, inserting pastoral and religious themes into his paintings, in which natural elements played a fundamental role. He was subsequently in Milan, then in Venice (1687) and in the Lombard region of the Serenissima, before returning to Milan, where he died.
