Vicente Juan Macip, better known as Joan de Joanes (Valencia, 1523 – Bocairente, 21 December 1589) Att. to
Painter (Fuente de la Higuera, Valencia, circa 1506 - Bocairente 1579), pupil of his father Vicente, he derived the suggestions of Italian art (especially Leonardo and Raphael) which he strongly accentuated, perhaps also following a supposed stay in Italy. Most of his works are found in Valencia and in the Prado Museum (Madrid).
