Tapestry - 310 cm - 215 cm - Brussels wallpaper

Important wool flamenco tapestry, made in the 17th century in the Netherlands.

This important vertical tapestry is surrounded by a double border filled with garlands of colorful flowers, topped with eagle heads in the upper corners and lion heads in the two lower corners. On each side, medallions feature grisaille images of supposed Roman emperors, and in the center of the border, medallions depict landscapes.

The main scene depicts a warrior dressed in a Roman armor-like suit, subjugating a defeated character at his feet. On his head, the laurel crown of the victor.

The background is an architectural structure of a building full of columns and with a large garden filled with cypresses.

The tapestry is restored and clean, and on the back side, it has a cream-colored canvas fabric with Velcro to hang it without damaging the fabric, as recommended by experts.
