German Stahlhelm M16/M17 helmet – World War I
German M16/M17 Stahlhelm helmet, original from the First World War (1916–1918), originating from the Imperial German Army (Deutsches Heer).
The helmet has the typical shape of WWI Stahlhelms, with a wide skirt and rolled edges. The lateral bosses intended for ventilation and for securing the frontal armor (Stirnpanzer) are clearly present. The rivets fastening the liner are visible.

The rotator cuff and jugular vein are absent.
Old, homogeneous oxidation, internal and external.
Original feldgrau paint, nearly extinct.
No insignia visible (as with many WWI helmets)
The condition is that of a relic / field-used piece, with a beautiful period patina. The helmet has not been cleaned or restored, which preserves its authenticity.
History
This type of helmet was worn by frontline German soldiers (infantry, trench troops, reserve units) on the main fronts of the Great War, especially from 1916.
