Ochre Glazed Jelly Mould

An old French ceramic jelly mould with a deeply fluted form and rich ochre glaze to the interior and rim. Designed so that a set jelly or dessert would turn out with its distinctive shaped top, these moulds were once practical pieces of kitchen equipment but are just as good displayed amongst old pottery today. The deep ochre against the pale unglazed exterior is particularly good, and its generous bowl-like shape also makes it a great option for serving fruit, salads or other dry foods at the table. There is a small chip to one edge, which we have shown in the photographs.
