Clothes iron - Ember iron - 19th century - Brass

Superb authentic small coal iron, solid brass, once used for ironing delicate textiles: lace, collars, headdresses, or ribbons.
This model, small in size but heavy (1 kg), is typical of domestic tools used in France and Northern Europe at the end of the 19th century.

This is a genuine utilitarian iron, not a reproduction:

Charred interior and old traces of ash, bearing witness to its use.

Perforated side vents, designed to feed the embers with oxygen – an uncommon detail.

Molded rose decoration on the sides, and an ornate handle, characteristics of the elaborately worked models from the late 19th century.

This iron today is a very fine collector's piece, or an authentic decorative object for a fireplace, a cabinet of curiosities, or a country-house ambiance.
