Ancient Egypt, Late Period, 26th / 31st Dynasty, 664/332 BC
Large coffin mask in finely carved wood. It is made of cedar and covered with gesso painted in red and black pigment.
This red-colored mask features the likeness of an Egyptian dignitary.
The oval-shaped face with idealized features is characterized by large almond-shaped eyes embedded with bronze and stone, a long slender nose sculpted in relief in a triangular shape and refined at the nasal bridge, and a mouth with pursed lips.
The lower forehead is topped with a black headdress.
The facial expression shows extreme serenity.
These wooden masks were attached with dowels to the deceased's coffin. Traces of fixing dowels on the back of the structure.
Examined by Simone Musso, consulting curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri archaeological expedition.

Very good state of preservation, original pigments and inlays.
