Territet, Switzerland – Chemin de fer de Territet-Glion – Postcard

Regular price £7.00 GBP

This postcard captures the steep ascent of the Chemin de fer de Territet-Glion, a picturesque funicular railway climbing through terraced hillsides toward Glion, nestled high above Lake Geneva.
Opened in 1883, the Territet-Glion funicular is one of Switzerland’s earliest and steepest mountain railways. It connects the lakeside resort of Territet with the elevated spa town of Glion, both part of the Montreux region. The funicular was a vital link for travelers heading to the Grand Hôtel des Alpes or continuing by cogwheel train to Rochers-de-Naye. Combining tourism and innovation, the route offered breathtaking panoramas of the lake and Alps, contributing to the Belle Époque expansion of Swiss alpine resorts.
