This postcard captures a bustling view of the former Gare du Nord (North Station) in Brussels, an architectural gem and vital transportation hub of its era.
The original Gare du Nord, constructed in the mid-19th century, was an essential gateway for travelers entering Brussels from northern routes. Located on the edge of the city center, it connected Belgium's capital to Antwerp, the Netherlands, and beyond. In 1952, the original building was demolished and replaced by a new, modern station a short distance away, making this postcard a rare visual record of a lost architectural landmark.
The card follows the format common in Belgian issues—bilingual in French and Dutch ("Carte Postale" / "Postkaart") and in line with Universal Postal Union guidelines.
Front Text: "Bruxelles, Gare du Nord."
Reverse Imprint:
"CARTE POSTALE – POSTKAART"
"Correspondance – Briefwisseling / Adresse – Adres"
