This vintage postcard features the Palacio de Justicia in Barcelona, an architectural gem of the late 19th century.
The Palacio de Justicia (Palace of Justice) was inaugurated in the early 20th century as a major symbol of judicial authority in Catalonia. Designed by architects Enric Sagnier and Josep Domènech i Estapà, the structure occupies a prominent site along the Passeig de Lluís Companys, previously known as the Salón de San Juan. The palace includes several courtrooms, chapels, and a central domed temple. Statues of 42 prominent Spanish jurists line the second floor, highlighting the nation's legal heritage. This grand civic building was part of Barcelona’s broader push to establish itself as a modern European metropolis.
