This historical postcard showcases the Cascada Monumental, the grand waterfall and fountain in Parc de la Ciutadella, Barcelona. The magnificent Neoclassical design, featuring ornate sculptures, staircases, and lush greenery, is topped by a golden sculpture of Aurora’s chariot, adding a regal touch to the scene. 
The Cascada Monumental, completed in 1881, was inspired by the Trevi Fountain in Rome and designed by Josep Fontserè, with a young Antoni Gaudí assisting in the early stages of its construction. The fountain became one of the most impressive landmarks in Parc de la Ciutadella, a park that was created on the site of a former military citadel to serve as Barcelona’s first public park.
