This postcard showcases the Academy of Athens, a masterpiece of neoclassical architecture and one of the most iconic buildings in modern Greece. 
Designed by Danish architect Theophil Hansen and completed in 1887, the Academy of Athens represents the height of the neoclassical revival in 19th-century Greece—a nation reconnecting with its ancient roots. As part of the famed “Athenian Trilogy” alongside the University and National Library, the Academy was modeled on ancient temples and intended as a beacon of enlightenment, learning, and national pride. 
The reverse is formatted for international mailing in accordance with the Universal Postal Union standards.
