A finely executed oil on panel by prominent American painter Julius LeBlanc Stewart (1855–1919), signed lower right and dated 1881, titled “The Courtesan.” Painted during Stewart’s Paris period, the work depicts a young girl seated indoors, wearing a long embroidered gown, holding a fan with flowers beside her.
