1969 Italy 1000 Lire Banknote – Banca d’Italia
Obverse: Features a portrait of Giuseppe Verdi, the renowned 19th-century Italian composer celebrated for his operas such as Aida, La Traviata, and Rigoletto. At the center, an orange Medusa head seal is visible, surrounded by ornate patterns. The text reads “BANCA D’ITALIA – LIRE MILLE – PAGABILI A VISTA AL PORTATORE.” Serial numbers “QC 076119 S” are printed on both sides.
Reverse: Depicts the façade of the Teatro alla Scala (La Scala Theatre) in Milan, one of the world’s most prestigious opera houses, emphasizing Italy’s rich cultural and musical heritage. The denomination “1000” and “LIRE MILLE” are inscribed, along with the warning against counterfeiting: “LA LEGGE PUNISCE I FABBRICATORI E GLI SPACCIATORI DI BIGLIETTI FALSI.”
