This vintage postcard depicts the impressive "Large Tank" in Aden, Yemen, filled to capacity. The tank, nestled amidst rugged rocky terrain, was part of an ancient water collection system designed to store and conserve rainwater in this arid region. The tanks of Aden date back to antiquity and were integral to the city's survival, demonstrating advanced engineering for water management in a desert climate. During the British colonial period, the tanks were restored, becoming a point of interest for visitors and an enduring symbol of Aden's resilience.
The reverse side features a classic "POST CARD" layout with space for correspondence and an address. It includes the note: "This is a real photograph," and is credited to M. Howard, Photographer.
