Historisch gesehen diente dieser Schild in Kriegszeiten als Verteidigungswaffe und wurde von den Tikar in Kamerun als Statussymbol und Zeichen des Reichtums getragen. Sorgfältig aus einem einzigen Stück Holz geschnitzt, besticht dieser Schild durch Hunderte von handaufgelegten Perlen auf Manila-Schnur, die kreisförmig um eine dreidimensionale Anordnung natürlicher Kaurimuscheln im Zentrum angeordnet sind.
