This vintage postcard presents a sun-drenched view of Paseo de Colón in Barcelona, lined with tall, arching palm trees that cast gentle shadows across the promenade.
Paseo de Colón (Columbus Promenade) runs parallel to Barcelona’s harbor and occupies the site of the former sea wall (muralla de mar). Stretching 610 meters in length and 42 meters wide, the promenade was designed in the late 19th century as a scenic and functional link between the port and the city center. The Columbus Monument, inaugurated in 1888 for the Universal Exposition, commemorates the explorer’s first voyage to the Americas and stands as a national symbol of exploration and maritime heritage.
