This postcard presents a stunning panoramic view of Meknès, one of Morocco’s imperial cities. The city, known for its blend of Islamic and European-style architecture, was founded in the 11th century. The skyline in the image showcases various minarets and towers from the city’s historic mosques and palaces. Meknès became the capital under Sultan Moulay Ismail in the late 17th century, who turned the city into a Moroccan Versailles, constructing monumental gates, palaces, and mosques.
The reverse side of the postcard is unused, featuring space for correspondence and an address, with a print mark from the photographer, "Photo Albert, Alger."
