1973 Canada 1 Dollar Banknote – Bank of Canada

Obverse: Features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing a pearl necklace and earrings, engraved by George Gundersen based on a photograph by Karsh of Ottawa. To the left is the Canadian coat of arms in multicolor, along with bilingual inscriptions “UN DOLLAR / ONE DOLLAR.” Serial numbers “MV0497534” appear in red and blue. The text reads “BANK OF CANADA – BANQUE DU CANADA” and “THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER / CE BILLET A COURS LÉGAL.”
Reverse: Depicts a panoramic view of Canada’s Parliament Hill in Ottawa, as seen from across the Ottawa River, with logs floating in the foreground. The bilingual denomination “ONE / UN” is shown on both sides.
